Business Communication Intensive

We developed this program for finance professionals who need to communicate complex ideas clearly. Not everyone starts as a natural presenter, and that's exactly who we built this for.

How the Program Works

Over twelve weeks starting September 2025, we'll cover written communication, presentation skills, and stakeholder engagement. Each phase builds on what came before.

Weeks 1-4

Written Fundamentals

Email structure, report writing, and executive summaries. We'll work on removing jargon without dumbing things down. You'll draft real documents from your work and get detailed feedback.

Weeks 5-8

Presentation Development

Building slide decks that support your message instead of competing with it. We practice live presentations in small groups because reading about public speaking doesn't actually make you better at it.

Weeks 9-12

Stakeholder Engagement

Handling difficult conversations, managing expectations, and navigating office politics without becoming someone you're not. The final project involves presenting to actual business leaders who'll provide honest critique.

Portrait of Darren Kellaway, Senior Communication Strategist

Darren Kellaway

Senior Communication Strategist

Spent fifteen years in corporate finance before transitioning to communication training. Darren knows what it's like to explain complicated forecasts to board members who just want the bottom line. He's worked with teams at mid-sized Australian firms and occasionally consults for international companies operating here.

Presentation Skills Coach

Vivienne came from a journalism background and moved into business training after realizing most executives communicate like they're writing academic papers. She focuses on storytelling techniques that work in boardrooms, not just TED talks. Her approach is direct but supportive.

2025 Program Schedule

1

September 8

Program Kickoff

Initial assessment and goal setting. We'll review samples of your current work to identify specific areas for improvement. No generic advice—everything's tailored to your actual challenges.

2

October 6

Midpoint Review

Group presentation session where you'll deliver a ten-minute talk on a finance topic of your choice. Peer feedback plus instructor analysis. Some people find this nerve-wracking, which is sort of the point.

3

November 17

Final Presentations

Present to a panel of business leaders from various sectors. They'll ask tough questions and provide feedback based on real-world expectations. This isn't a formality—it's designed to challenge you.

4

December 1

Program Completion

Final debrief and certification. We'll discuss how to maintain these skills long-term and offer optional follow-up coaching sessions for those who want continued support into 2026.

What You'll Actually Develop

These aren't guaranteed career outcomes, but they're the skills participants typically build through consistent practice.

Clear Writing

Draft emails and reports that get read instead of skimmed. Learn to structure information so decision-makers can find what they need quickly.

Confident Presenting

Deliver presentations without reading off slides or losing your train of thought. Handle questions without getting defensive or flustered.

Stakeholder Management

Navigate conversations with people who don't understand finance but control budgets. Manage expectations when you can't give them the answer they want.
